So in the year of my birth, electronics engineers were able to make a transmitting, music playing, photographing device that could withstand being hurled into space atop a 630 tonne rocket, accelerating to 60,000km/hr while taking pictures and wirelessly beaming them back to earth and remaining functional for decades. Yet I'm currently recharging, for the second time in 24 hours, a device made this year that I have recently discovered is incapable of withstanding even the relatively mild acceleration of gravity over about 1.2 metres without needing a NZ$234 screen replaced. And Voyager has never sent me some dumb cat pic neither.*
Progress, huh?
*Mind you, that could be because one moderately sized jpeg would use up a Voyager's entire available memory (69.63kb)

The premise of the first star trek movie where V'ger returns to earth seeking 'the creator' was inspired.
I'd love to see them remake that one.
No return for Cassini. The loneliest suicide begins.
