Leicester vs Gloucester

Well, that was certainly brighter than we've had of late, although that's a bar so low that you could trip over it. Excellent first 30 minutes, but we went majorly off the boil after that and somehow managed to throw away the bonus point.

The lineout needs something doing to it. It's not (just) the throwing, but the organisation and the calling - we were throwing to the front when it was marked, throwing to the middle and getting the timing wrong, throwing to the back and having a lift like a 40 year old forklift truck. Gloucester could mark us out of the game and rely on us to screw it up when they didn't get their mitts on it. I'm wondering if it's worth bringing Croft back in just simply to run the lineout.

On the plus side, Mapapalangi looked very useful when he came on, Malouf is looking a really useful acquisition, and we did at least win, even if with a poor last 50.

B-. Acceptable, but we know we should be doing better.

poor game I thought. Tigers looked better, but glaws were dire. Tigers chucked away a BP imo

Was wanting tigers to sign a big 8, but think i would like to see Mapaplangi get a run out now at 8 looks raw but a tidy player.

I hope McGuigan is fit soon.

The young locks did well.

If Mapaplangi performs at 8 i would like Tigers to invest either at Hooker or Lock next. (Prob Lock)

Was Kitchener there? Is he out of favour? He seems like a good lineout man.

That 8 did look handy, if a bit wild.

Looks like Youngs had a good game. Really do like Harrison's service though.

Think Hamilton was 3rd choice. He didn't do to badly.

Entertaining first 30mins. Pretty dire after that. There were a few bright moments in the second half but they came about due to crap basics leading to turnovers aplenty. A fairly low standard game and I can't see Leicester troubling the top 4, even if it was an improvement.

Was Billy Burns a late withdrawal?

He was named in the side yesterday but doesn't appear to have played today. Very annoying since I signed him for my fantasy team solely on the basis that he was supposed to be starting ... as it happens, I would have been better off putting Sam James at 10 and putting someone else on the bench. :x

Did Gloucester set a record for the number of handling errors in the 2nd half? Leicester misssd out on a bonus point through poor game management and Gloucester butchered enough chances to have won. Any impartial SH viewers would have been amused by the standard and probably thought they were watching a lower division game. It was strange that it was so bad because there was no lack of effort on either side.

Yes but only until Newcastle v Saracens.

they missed out on a bonus point through poor execution, not game management. They got into position to score many more tries, but butchered them....overlaps ignored, lack of control on driving lineouts etc.

These were two very average teams, and I think I'm being kind.

On a positive note, Trinder looked decent...then got injured again, poor lad.

Not entirely sure what Tigers were doing preseason. Still can't see what sort of game they want to be playing. Think they will pick up wins against sides without a big pack, but will really struggle against top teams
