Lots of doubters eating their words this week, but is Marfo one of these weird cats that raises his game when given a bit of confidence of was he not really pushed on Sat.
I also kept an eye on him quite a bit, felt he wasnt the fastest getting round the park but didnt look out of his depth

Well done for not being out of your depth against Samoa.

He's been decent enough for Edinburgh and gave Furlong a reasonable game v Leinster earlier in the season.
Let's preface this with the fact he is 5th choice. We are not expecting him to be top class
Scrummaged well, but he was against a LHP playing THP. Couple of decent turnovers too.
Thought Bhatti looked a little overwhelmed in the loose but he's young.

I was so sure this was going to be an announcement that he's injured.

I am not sure why he is getting so much press, admittedly he did well considering, but is he that much of a find compared to the others that wouldnt be in it but for our run of injuries....?
Seems overkill.
Also, how good is this site:

Looked on that link. Ireland crying we didn't back then despite SRU saying all along they'd go for whichever bid raised most money for WR. That's pretty open and fair.

If the shoe was on the other foot would they help us out? Doubt it...they would probably take the cash.

Maybe we could have offered to support them if they'd arrange for the boys to "disappear" McDowell.

I have this to say about Marfo.
When watching him come through, I would never in a million years have thought he'd get anywhere near senior international rugby.
Wow.

Wow.
When you consider the guys in front of him that are injured
Dickinson
Dell
Reid
Sutherland
Rizzo (Not Scotish but if he hadnt got red carded then injured then Marfo would never have got the run of games

Even with those guys all injured, it's still an incredible (achievement for Marfo, situation for Scotland) to get to that level.

I think there is also an element of Edinburgh looking after McCallum and Townsend not wanting to throw Bhatti to the wolves too.
Marfo will be a 3-5 cap wonder
Fair play to him.

Or this opportunity could really inspire him to want more push his improvement. I would hope he is not limited in his ambition. We shall see after today how he goes

He's certainly not had a bad start, particularly given the tough time of it we've had on the tighthead.
