Clifford and Beaumont have been retained, as has Itoje so we could see a change. Robshaw definitely looked the weak link last week and the balance is just squint, Hask/Clifford/Billy would have a better shape but a pairing of Haskell and Kvesic (if Hask plays like he did last week) could've been excellent.

I'd go (Eddie will go) from the 25 still left

15 Mike Brown (Mike Brown)
14 Jack Nowell (Jack Nowell)
13 JJ (JJ)
12 Devoto (Farrell)
11 Watson (Watson)
10 Ford (Ford)
9 Care (Care)
8 Billy V (Billy V)
7 Clifford (Clifford)...Kvesic has gone
6 Haskell (Haskell)
5 Kruis (Lawes)
4 Itoje (Launchbury)
3 Cole (Cole)
2 George (Hartley)
1 Mako (Mako)

bench
Marler (Marler)
Hartley (George)
Hill (Hill)
Launchbury (Kruis)
Robshaw (Robshaw)
Youngs (Youngs)
Faz (Devoto)
errrm Goode (Goode)....I would have picked Daly, but he has gone too.

So, only 4 disputes in the XV twixt you and EJ! I'd go with your XV apart from picking Kruis and Launchbury in the 2nd row and I'd have Itoje at 6 instead of Haskell. I'd rather have a 6/2 split than have Goode on the bench so I'd give Haskell his shirt!!!

..as I said its based on the 25 left available. So bit limited really. A 6:2 split can leave you pretty exposed, but I'd have had Daly on the bench, and I'd have started Kvesic. So it would have been 5 differences with Eddie and a different bench. Itoje hasn't played 6 all season so I think that's both unfair and unwise especially with a new 7 partner, and a green one at that. Pleased to see you agree with dropping Dylan though, that's progress :D !

Saracens forward Maro Itoje is in line to make his England debut after he was named on the bench for Sunday's Six Nations game against Italy in Rome.

The 21-year-old can play in both the second and back rows.

The starting XV has three changes from the team which beat Scotland last weekend.

Lock Courtney Lawes, loose-head prop Mako Vunipola and scrum-half Ben Youngs come in for Joe Launchbury, Joe Marler and Danny Care respectively

Would have liked to see Clifford starting - that back row does not work and is a key problem area that needs to be addressed,

It's only Italy - shouldn't need a 1st XV.

They'll beat England one of these days. Even so, not sure what is being experimented with in some of these selections....

I'm a bit surprised that some of the promising young players aren't starting. I get why he wanted to win in Scotland and went for experience. But, this s Jones's honeymoon period and he won't cop too much flak for giving young players a chance.

Reflecting a bit, if they do believe that Ford and Farrell together has legs then they do have to give it more than one go. Just a bit disappointing afte rall this talk of Devoto on the old board.

This.

Is there a 'like'/'rep' button on the mob site?

What an incredibly dull team. Alex Goode is the impact for the backs of the bench. Jesus.

Insofar as internet forums and Facebook are a useful barometer, I'd say Jones has already blown through his honeymoon period in no small part because he hasn't given young players a chance.

It's results or GTFO already, with the glum realisation that GTFO isn't actually an option, and his selections to date aren't exactly the greatest predicator of success. Here's hoping something changes.

Pretty uninspiring, I'm shocked Daly isn't in the mix, why have Devoto on the bench last week not use him and then discard him this week ? and I don't know how crushingly mediocre that back row has to be before something is done .......

Despite losing to France last week I thought Italy looked pretty handy and have a horrible feeling they're going to turn us over.

Hello all by the way, I used to post a number of years ago and have decided to come back out of hiding.
