Well done the RPA. Next step, reducing the size of the Premiership.

bit surprised it was proposed in the first place.

That won’t ever happen.Puja wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/43321823

With the likely A league increase the easiest way to get more rest time would be to chop the AWC which frees up 6 weeks during the season anyway

Losing the AWC looks viable, unless the Welsh sides really want it as the English clubs do owe them after they helped set up the new Heineken Cup. Btw, how is the Heineken Cup doing now financially, does it have any extra sponsors, how is it set for future TV deals? It was going to a big success, we've just not heard about any success.

Wouldn't solve the problem - the alleged point of the extended season was to move all the Prem games out of clashing with international periods and the AWC is already played solely in international periods.Tigersman wrote:That won’t ever happen.Puja wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/43321823

Another fun issue - with the 11 month season dead, we now end up with the summer internationals adrift in the middle of our summer break in July (because compromise and a unified world calendar means doing what works best for the Southern Hemisphere countries and screw everyone else). Is the season going to continue to start in September, so England players get a far shorter pre-season? Does it move to October and squash our preparation for the AIs and start our season and flagship games in shittier weather? Do England players finish playing in May, go off for June, play in July, go off for August and then play in September?
So glad that this "compromise" was worked out for the good of everyone.

The 'new generation' of moneymen always think they can tweak a bit more profit out of the organisation. And it's always detrimental.
Glad to see I'm not the only one to say feck 'em.
