Rugby in Belarus

Post by rowan »

This could be an exciting development: A Belarusian club competing in Russian competition. The landlocked nation of 10 million inhabitants has played a handful of games against ENC development teams in recent years, but lost all of them decisively. However, its close geographical and political relationship with Russia make the inclusion of a Minsk-based club in Russian competition a no-brainer, and given the strength of Russian competition these days that could be a real leg-up into the competitive international arena. Watch out for the White Russians!

Since April 15, Kokorin starts working as a playing coach of the Dynamo (Minsk) team. His agreement is designed for 3 years. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, annoyed with the unsuccessful game of hockey players of the Minsk "Dynamo", who did not qualify for the playoffs of the Continental Hockey League, turned his attention to rugby. It is planned that in 2019, "Dynamo" will play in the Russian rugby championship among the teams of the Higher League, and in the future will join the list of teams representing the Super League. It is already known that the budget of Minskers will be at the level of teams that are fighting for getting into the top three. In addition, the forward of "Slavs" Ilya Osminko is leaving for Belarus. He will work in Dynamo coach for the attacker.

The proposal received from the Minsk "Dynamo" was extremely unexpected for me, - does not hide his surprise Kokorin. - At first I thought that I was being played, but when the leaders of Dynamo flew to Moscow for negotiations, it became clear that everything was serious. I can not say yet who, besides me, will enter the coaching staff of the team. As for the players, some young guys who are not yet part of the "Glory" are likely to join the ranks of Dynamo. Such an agreement has already been achieved with the leadership of "Glory." So far this is all the information I can share with the fans. Frankly, it's not easy for me to leave Slava, but I really want to try myself in such a large and ambitious project. I hope, next year to come to Moscow with the Minsk "Dynamo" for the Super League match against "Glory". I am confident that the skills gained in working with Andrei Anatolyevich Cherevichny and Alexander Borisovich Tarletsky in "Glory"

"He always treated Belarus with warmth, with Minsk, in particular, with the capital of this country," Osminko does not hide . - I set myself the task to bring Dynamo to a new level, and in a few years to return to Slava as a head coach. My motivation is great. We should get together with Roman, I am sure of this, as well as the fact that spring follows Russia's winter.

It is planned that in the summer, during the break in the championship, in Moscow there will be two test matches, in which "Glory" will play with the Minsk "Dynamo".
