Post by Tigersman »

According to Insiderugbyline they are going to change their branding to Bristol Bears.

Interesting to see how it goes.
Bears is better than Shoguns.

I honestly hate all the american style branding. So cheesy and un authentic. What the fuck has a bear got to do with bristol or what ever. Do they really think english crowds will suddenly decide to go and watch a game of rugby because of this?

Bears used to roam Bristol TBF.
Still do looking at a google search just a different type of bear....

( I see a project has been set-up to re-introduce them to Bristol).

Me too. It’s not American football!!! :x

The kit I’ve seen is nice though (minus the pointless bear on the chest).

Yaay! Bad Idea Bears! Yaaay!

I'm still amazed that Bath walked back their decision to be Bath Gladiators a few years back, after widespread disdain from the supporter base.

Kit looks ok, would prefer white to red in it though.

Some are outraged, though those people are still not over using letters, so its to be expected.

As said Bears is better than Shoguns and no-one will use it anyway (apart from those paid to do so & commentators). So personally am ambivalent about it & if we stay up it'll all be forgotten.

The Bears is the name of the wheelchair rugby side so could be a mix up.

Oh good, an away kit that's practically indistinguishable from the home kit. That'll work great!

Looking at Shedwed they picked up the Lions rebranding on 21st Mar. Glaws registered a bunch of new designs;

trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmowner/page/search?id=182661&domain=1

3rd one down fits nicely. Also, as suggested by Elver Eater, is the rebranding to fit the new, American, league sponsor? So all non-branded sides get a new "name" for the US market?

At least the away kit is decent, the home is not good. That said I had the same thought about two kits in a darker shade, albeit they must have a cup kit lying around somewhere, maybe something in white as a for instance

If it's rebranding to fit an American sponsor, will there be more dumbing down?

Not sure any of them will know what a Harlequin is... So perhaps we'll become the Jesters...

Exeter atheletic also registered, I guess "Chiefs" might be a bit of a touchy one over there.
