Bedford have named Lee Dickson as their new captain.

Lee has said “From me it’ll be more of the same but with a bit more talking.”

There are second tier refs up and down the country looking for the notice period in their contracts. Good luck lads, you’ll need it.

Who'd be a fan on the touchline now they're being headbutted and left losing a significant amount of their vision

I read a story in the Times earlier about a solicitor being struck off after losing his rag at a match involving his son. He claimed his son was assaulted on the pitch, the ref advised he didn't see it and couldn't take action, so the dad said he'd sort it himself before heading a fellow spectator exhorting him to calm down. As well as being struck off he also got a life ban from the club he was in attendance at

The spectator was a fellow coach and his (former) friend who still suffers from the attack. How to ruin your career and life in one easy step.

I'm not really that interested in him ruining his life, though that he included others on his descent isn't acceptable

I’m not supportive of him. I used to work with him as it happens, there were other circumstances at play which haven’t been reported which don’t in any way excuse what he did but might offer the beginning of an explanation. Perhaps part of the reason for the fairly lenient criminal sentence.
