What an idiot. Back in the England squad with a shot at the World Cup and does that. Say bye to your international career for good this time Danny.

My take; a scuffle has got a touch out of hand. Officious cops have arrived on the scene and exacerbated the situation.

Larceny charge will be dropped. Disorderly and resisting arrest don’t amount to an awful lot. Common assault with no aggravating factors is a fine and he’s probably pushed a copper, which is another fine.

He’ll apologise, hand over a cheque and might have to sit out the November Series.

When he retires he can set up a nightclub with Ben Stokes. Suggestions for the name?

He does have form for climbing over a bar and helping himself to a bottle, so I'd assumed the larceny was along the lines of a repeat of that.

My thoughts exactly. If it's some kind of initiation, just say no. He's an adult ffs. Insanely talented, but clearly not particularly bright sometimes

Most charges dropped. Plead guilty to assault and resisting arrest, fined £2k+costs.

So a mountain out of a molehill. Now he needs to a) get his head down and make sure he starts the season with a bang at Glos and b) get on the blower to Eddie and beg for another chance.

I feel like the RFU will put pressure on Eddie to do something. Maybe he’ll have to sit out a game or two, or the Autumn series.

The big snag these days is that everything is out of proportion because there will always be some tosser filming an incident with their smartphone. No police officer dare just issue a warning on the quiet if a celebrity has been involved - be they pissed, stupid, innocent, guilty or whatever. What should happen is that the likes of Cipriani and Stokes avoid being involved in the first place. The greatest crime they commit, IMO, is being daft enough to be where they can get caught.

That is a sweeping generalisation, the only factors that are the same between the two is they were both professional sportsmen who were pissed and acted like dickheads, what people having a smartphone has to do with that I don't know.

I’d be inclined to forgive him solely for his response to being cuffed. Apparently, he said something along the lines of “Be careful with the wrists, they’re golden.”

Did the bar staff have name tags reading Owen and George?

Difficult to know how serious this is but it's a very easy out for Eddie if he wants it

Yeah. That’s it really. He knows he’s had to play so much better than the incumbents to even get a glimpse. How dumb is he? When I saw the headline I thought if he was going to do this why didn’t he just go to France and cash in?

Really disappointing he's got himself in this bother. I thought he had turned a corner and grown up a bit.
It may not be the end of the world. He's been a prat, but that may not rule him out of England contention.

You'd have to find a slot for James O'Connor - possibly the biggest waste of real talent of he lot.
