Saw that the other day - it's alarming to see it laid out that starkly. The salary cap raise was a mistake, to my mind - we still can't compete with the French for top players and English players are held by the overseas player policy.

I don't see how wage inflation can be stopped though. Every player is going to want a raise every time they renew, because everyone else got one.

Yup - or not so much the raise, but the degree of it - 50% in 2 years wasn't it? - just as most clubs were approaching break-even; and then plunging them straight back into horrendous debt.
And for what? Making us more competitive against the French and Irish clubs? how did that work out for us again?
