Anyone off to HQ this autumn?

If so please note there are planned train strikes which include every date England have a match scheduled. South West trains may yet see strikes averted but they haven't published any revised schedule, so for those using the train it's something to check on

Oh, joy. The journey from North Yorkshire will take even longer.

I was contemplating trying a different route this year....has anyone ever tried the Windsor to Whitton train on match days?

I've heard that's alright, but from my knowledge it's still South West trains, so the strike would be applicable, if not worse as last time this happened SWT had services running to Twickenham regularly to cover the game.
An option would be to get to Hammersmith and then a bus from there
Driving is a further option, although takes a lot of fun out of it. If you do, I know an area to park that's free and fairly reliable for spaces (happy to say over private messages, but no further as I will use it for at least 1 game and want to ensure I can park!)

Driving is definitely an option. I normally do that, after a pit stop the night before, was just going to try the train this year but no point now. I normally park off Whitton high street. Any info would be gratefully received!

Many times I've simply got on the tube out to Richmond and then walked down the river to Twickenham, or done that heading back
It takes a few minutes, but if one had some friends and some beers or wines to share it's a decent lark, or it seems to be for those who have friends

The tube will of course be rammed if South West trains are not doing a full schedule, but if one arrived early you'd just have more time to kill in the pub

I have the eldest in tow. So, no boozing and keeping him entertained over an extended period is hard work. Will just brave the traffic in to Whitton, go to the Italian on the High Street and then wander up to HQ.

Why not the Indian instead

Spice of India, not Jolly's that is
God, haven't eaten at any of them for so long

Used to be down there all the time!

The Italian when watching with family is a tradition stretching back 15 years or so. Waiting for the year I turn up to find it’s now a Nando’s. The year I turned up to find that the carpark behind Whitton library had changed from 4/5 hr max to a 2hr max caused enough panic. Having to change eatery would lead to a complete meltdown.

lol. I think it's enough of an institution to last another decade!

Taxi in, lunch in Richmond, wander to the ground via the White Swan, attempt to remember the game and avoid falling into the row in front.

Not remembering the game may be a good thing!

Japan. My son is obsessed with rugby and all things Japanese so it seemed the logical (and cheapest!) option.

South West Trains were on strike for the recent East Mids Derby and I thought it'd be a nightmare travelling from Portsmouth to Twickenham. I honestly didn't notice any difference to the journey, so hopefully there won't be too much disruption for anyone going to the Autumn Internationals.

I don’t love anyone enough to eat sushi.....perhaps Rachel Bilson.

Indeed, these were all mistakes I made last autumn too. More looking forward to going up to Murrayfield with my son to watch some proper rugby.
