Re: 1872 Cup
Do you know head to head there are only a handful of positions that Edinburgh can honestly say they are better than Glasgow.
But i still think Edinburgh win by 5 , they will drag Glasgow into an arm wrestle

Embra has a great pack - should be a good match. looking forward to heading along. Hope it’s easier on the eye than last December at Murrayfield. I’m sure Embra fans loved it but it wasn’t much of a spectacle.
At least both sides have put out their strongest teams - unlike the Irish provinces where the away team in provincial match ups always fields a B side.

Re: 1872 Cup
Head to heads for me show that Edinburgh still have a way to go. Even the pack is more even than anticipated.
The 13 match up could br fun given that both have a great outside break but somewhat dodgy tackling ability (though no lack of bravery).
15 Kinghorn - Hogg
14 Graham - Seymour
13 Johnstone - Grigg
12 Dean - Horne
11 VDM - VDM
10 VDW - Hastings
9 Pyrgos - Horne
1 Schoeman - Kebble
2 McInally - Stewart
3 Nel - Halanukonuka
4 Toolis - Harley
5 Gilchrist - Gray
6 Hamilton - Ashe
7 Watson - Gibbons
8 Mata - Faegerson
16 Cherry - Bryce
17 Dell - Bhatti
18 Ceccarelli - Rae
19 CHH - Swinson
20 Crosbie - Fusaro
21 Fowles - Price
22 Hickey - Jones
23 Socino - Matawalu

I fear that it will be decided at 7/8. I would lov to see the Glasgow backs run riot, but they need the ball first.switchskier wrote:Head to heads for me show that Edinburgh still have a way to go. Even the pack is more even than anticipated.

It’s charming that Edinburgh get up for this match given its more fun licking the blood off a butchers floor than watching their play for the rest of the year.wanderingjock wrote:ARM wrote:Embra has a great pack - should be a good match. looking forward to heading along. Big difference in quality of the benches.switchskier wrote:Head to heads for me show that Edinburgh still have a way to go. Even the pack is more even than anticipated.

Squad depth remains Embras challenge.

Re: 1872 Cup
You see I worry about the opposite. Glasgow don't need much ball to run riot. If we try control the game through endless round the corner one out runners then we will eventually get turned over or kick it away. If the later then VDW has a propensity to throw in a few loose kicks, although he gets the backs moving better than Hickey.Stones of granite wrote:I fear that it will be decided at 7/8. Particularly as two of my kids have told me they will be supporting Edinburgh at the game tonight. They were both born here (embra) to be fair. Might just leave them at Murrayfield.

Re: 1872 Cup
Mike Adamson is a horrible referee. Misses loads, example just there, tells Horne to let the Edinburgh player on the ground. He continues to wrestle him and doesn't do anything about it.
Nice kick by mini Horne.

That's never a penalty against Kinghorn.
He missed a blatant offside from a knock on by Edinburgh too.

Sounds from the radio that Hastings was pretty gash.

I'm glad there is next week. He struggled with slow ball against an aggressive defence v Wales but this time he will hopefully get a second chance to work it out.Big D wrote:Not at his best.Mikey Brown wrote:Sounds from the radio that Hastings was pretty gash.
Seemed to me to be standing deep but then not with many runners off him. Dunno if it was because they were struggling to win quick ball but Glasgow looked less organised in attack than they usually do.
Shaky passing too (not just Hastings)

Got to admit I'm not a fan of Pyrgos but that was a good performance from him.
Our Van De Merwe is better than your Van De Merwe.
Graham everywhere.
I could go on but there's no point.
