Well played Wales, through the the tournie. A very well deserved Grand Slam.
It'll be good to goninto the RWC with 2 genuine contenders from the NH, pity Ireland don't look like making it 3 (watch out for incoming "sandbagging" claims)

Seconded. A very well deserved GS and well on reaching 2nd in the rankings. Interestingly, if NZ lose their first two RC games against SA and Aus (or lose the first by >16 points) you'll reach the top of the rankings. Unlikely, but I would cheer if that did happen.

Thanks... though who knows where we'll all be after the RWC warm-up matches: Wales/Englandx2, Wales/Irelandx2, England/Ireland??

We could leapfrog NZ without playing them?
Says it all about the rankings, doesn't it?

...not really. You could leapfrog New Zealand if they lose twice in a row to teams you've recently beaten; that's hardly unreasonable.

We will definitely lose a couple of those games; are they going to be four full fat internationals or are a couple going to be trial type games? If all four are full on then that’s one hell of a warm up!

I bet Gatland wishes he could cancel some of those matches. Wales are in a very good place whereas England and Ireland are both in disarray. They need those practice games much more than we do.

Agreed. The whole point of a ranking system is that it allows comparison without needing teams (or players) to be in one league (or to systematically play everyone else in some way).

Put like that, it does indeed sound logical.
I'd still feel pretty hollow about being ahead of a team we haven't beaten in my lifetime, though.

South Africa are still ahead of Japan.
Anyway, it's a moot point, as I don't see it happening, but I'll still be cheering for it.
