Harry’s Giant Pledge

Sorry to invade our rugby safe space but......

A very good friend of mine and his family are going through a horrific time at the moment as his 5 yo son has been given only days to live after a long battle with cancer. The family have tried to look for a positive in the situation and have started to raise funds for research in to children’s cancer. It is also helping keep their minds off the inevitable and the response so far, which has been unbelievable (thank you Lewis Hamilton), has brought a little happiness to them all.

Harry is a wonderful boy and they are the loveliest family. Please give what you can so that they can hopefully help others avoid what the are going through.

Donated last night after seeing the Hamilton story. Really sorry for your friends mate; I would not cope if it were my youngster and I wish them all the support they can have during an extremely shitty time.

Thank you. As you can imagine, they are completely devastated but the fund raising and particularly its success is helping them through it.

Right then you horrible lot. I’m back for more of your hard earned pennies.

Along with six others, I am taking part in a fundraiser for Harry’s Giant Pledge this Saturday.

We will be cycling the match ball for Bedford Blues v Ampthill from the Royal Marsden hospital in London the 100km to the Goldington Road Finishing School*. We will then attempt to collectively run further than the Blues XV achieve during the match. We are aiming for a collective 100km to make sure (and to also make our self proclaimed PR guru happy).

Harry’s Giant Pledge has raised nearly £500k and is within touching distance (I believe we need another £6ishk) of fully funding research to repurpose the adult treatment for Ewing’s sarcoma for treatment in children.

James and Charlotte, Harry’s parents, want to close the fund ASAP and get some closure. We have all known James since we were, at most, 12 years old and we are desperate to be the ones that get this over the line. The poor man has known me for nearly 40 years which must be worth a donation in and of itself.

I know some of you already have, but please donate if and what you can here:

Cheers,
Mellsblue

*will happily never use this phrase again if it ups donations!
