Just seen the SRU "Members Application" that clubs get sent.

I know we will be watching the world champions romp the 6N by gubbbing England and France but fuck me gently.

England + France:
Platinum - 115
Gold - 105
Silver - 80
Bronze 62

No U18 prices for England game. For France; 40 for silver and 35 for bronze.

So to take my 2 lads and my wife to the France game we'd be looking at £194 before travel etc. That is too rich for me sadly.

But they will fill out BTM so fair play to them I guess.

I don't think the prices are all that bad but it's absolutely unacceptable to offer U18 concessions for one game and not the other. How is that justifiable?

But the rising costs, summer tours not of FTA TV (not the SRUs fault), pro 14 and euro competitions being on pay tv are starting to take the pro teams and national side away from families that can't afford a fairly hefty day out.

The Edinburgh and Glasgow games are priced well but given most ko's are Friday night after 7 then it is hard to take young un's to unless you live close to the grounds.

That's life in general nowadays though. Hardly limited to the SRU. The cost of living is completely out of control but this still represents a fairly good deal in the grand scheme of things.

I personally think the prices are ridiculous particularly when theres a very good chance the shitebag Scotland team will turn up and have bellies tickled.

This absolutely this. Took my youngest to the Ireland game this year, £154 (plus travel, drinks and food) to watch your team play like shit... nah, I won't be back.

I’d pay for bronze, but fuck the rest of that. Part of the problem is the lack of corporate facilities when compared to, say, Twickenham. That’s where they can make top dollar to subsidise the other tickets for the club fans (amn’t I naïve for thinking they would do that!).

I reckon the next major project is Murrayfield.

All the more reason to strike while the iron is hot and get some corporate/ government partners on board. A re-designed Murrayfield could make more money from non-rugby activities (concerts, hotel and conference, other sporting events such as the occasional soccerball and NFL game) than it does from 5 or 6 rugby matches a year. It could also be the centre point of a RWC bid (which Ireland will clearly support!).

As I say, fair play to them. But then they can't complain if a younger generation moves away from the professional rugby teams and maybe even the game itself due to lack of access (particularly anything north of Fife/central belt).

With many Scotland games, Edinburgh and Glasgow games now behind one of two pay walls and their home games largely on a Friday night parents with young families who want to get their sons/daughters into the pro/national teams are getting blocked out unless you have a good amount of disposable income or live fairly close to the stadia.

No doubt the new kit will be £50 for young 'uns too.

Article on rugby pass suggesting CVC are stumping up 500million for 15% of the 6N. And also that the 6N and the AIs for the 6N teams are not guaranteed to be on FTA TV.

That is a real issue despite a much needed windfall.

It's a fucking disaster if true. Have they learned nothing from other sports that have gone done this route? They are already killing grass roots Rugby, and this will kill Pro/International Rugby as well.

It's a tricky one to be fair. TV income is important and the beeb/itv/c4 shouldn't be gifted the games for way below fair value.

If the Government are serious about a list of crown jewel sporting events they are going to need to start subsidising a part of the gap in money.

Out of interest, is the new super 6 going to be live on one of the bbc Scotland channels?

Hasn't been announced IIRC

Would be good, would also be one of their shows that might attract a couple of viewers.
