Captain Brittle acting all hard.

Have you read this bile?

I'm really quite surprised with the language used - "batter" and all sorts of I'm harder than you, so and so is much harder than you rubbish.

Its school playground stuff.

I honestly thought Warburton was a bit more sophisticated than this.

Bloody hell they hate us.

In 2013 when they shafted us 30-3 you could palpably see on TV the absolute ugliness of the crowd towards English people.

I work in an office where a female colleague who supports England (a member of Lichfield RFC) has quite often got tickets to the Millenium.
She went to the warm-up game and has said she will not go to the Millenium again. She felt really uncomfortable with the anti-English sentiment and crowd behaviour.

It would be very easy for a Welsh Rugby fan to reverse this and say I (were)to sensitive, suck it up buttercup, its because we are all sensitive solicitors and gentlemen farmers called Nigel, or on the other hand, Barbour wearing stock brokers who don't even know the rules.
Yes, that is all cliche.

There is a lot of smoke and noise about that the anti English sentiment at the Millenium is getting beyond a joke.
The banter has crossed over into genuine nastiness.

Nothing new tbh. I grew up playing welsh sides at school and with my club. Never any love lost, and off field was very different to playing sides from our side of the Severn. Wales Online is a pretty grim rag, too.

Wow. That is some seriously cringey shit. Like you I really thought Warburton would be above that.

Writing a book detailing your action movie quips in the heat of battle is a very strange kind of narcissism. He seemed quite a level-headed, if a bit dim, guy whenever I've heard him interviewed.

Haha. Seems he's a real drama queen, now I've read a bit more of it.

I don't know if the editing in this paper has done his book a dosservice, but I'm not sure which idea is funnier to me; that he genuinely wrote this stuff himself or that he was duped by such an absurdly untalented ghost-writer.

"It’s easier to list the parts of me that aren’t in pain. My eyelashes. That’s pretty much it.

I’ve had more than 20 injuries over my career. Before I go out to play these days, I have to neck pain tablets while the physios strap me up like an Egyptian mummy. I have to stand there butt naked in front of them, cupping my twig and berries, while they bind my knees, my ankles, my shoulders and my elbows."

It's all nonsense really. When was the last time there was a proper fight in an eng/wal match any way?

That's an odd name for a prize leek.

I love how Chris Robshaw ‘insulted the whole Welsh team’ by having the temerity to go for a win. Had the shoe been on the other foot, I would have been praising them for having the balls to gamble.

Hopefully we’ll get some sweet revenge.

Well I think I might buy the book and read it (or wait until its in the library!). I have always had the greatest respect for him, both as a player, a captain and a person, but having read those extracts from Wales online, I'm afraid some of that has been ripped away and wonder whether r the 'pain' etc he talks about has addled his brain and influenced the way he saw that 2015 match!

Hard to decide if the thread is venturing into homophobia or gay erotica, could go either way

I am the middle aged gentleman at the bar with an umbrella, white carnation, and a hint of whimsy in my eyes. No pressure.

I think it depends which way the book ventures.

I watched the 2015 WC game again quite recently....god, we should have won that by 10 points at least. No idea how we contrived a way to lose that match.

Is it because we took Burgess off?

Can't believe he'd threaten to 'batter' you if he 'caught you on your own during the game'!! No wonder he got sent off against France!

Dont think there's much to get upset about with these comments.
The insult to the the Welsh team line is obvious guff, though, and Warburton should appreciate the game situation and the obviously very tricky call that Robshaw had to make.

We need one of these dramatic reconstructions for the audiobook where he confronts Brown.

NFL has America's Game to watch, Wales needs Wales' Game to perhaps bring some closure to the hurt.
