Has Kvesic dropped his trousers in the bar again? After last season's form I thought he might be first choice. It does not pay to be versatile.

Exeter's system is geared toward 2 big guys and a little one. Simmonds is ahead of Kvesic, rightly I'd suggest, so that's what it is.

I'd love to see Simmonds launching off the back of England's pack, tbh, even though our flankers are "lightweight".

Yeah - that’s exactly my interpretation. Kvesic is fine hanging off the back of Exeter’s mauls and is better over the ball, but Simmonds adds so much more to their attacking options.

It’s good to see Townsend and Roko back and it’ll be interesting to see Hogg in the Premiership.

It would be worth it alone just to see JNGF lose his mind if we fielded 6. Curry 7. Underhill 8. Simmonds.

Ah, with Kvesic on the bench. I get it. :o

Neither side exactly shone last week so it will be interesting to see how this one goes.
Its good to see a couple of long term absentees back.
I'm sure Kvesic on the bench is part of Exe's rotation policy. He's bound to get plenty of game time over the season, so the odd bench spot shouldnt be seen as a demotion.

I'd love Simmonds as our back row bench option for England. He's made for it. Can cover 7 and 8 and is such a wonderful impact option.

Yep. Him or Clifford. Explosive ball carrier, bit of jackal and able to cover all three positions. Just need to keep them fit.

I may have spotted a teeny flaw in the plan. Feels like he's never strung five matches together without something major happening to him.

Or Mercer
Or Kvesic
Or Willis
Or...

We have an embarassment of potential in the backrow - it will be interesting to see hwo makes it, who's never given a chance to make it, who makes it at club level but fails to translate, and who simply fails to live up to his early promise.
Thankfully, we've got enough coming through (and established but young) to be able to afford our usual squandering of talent.

It's damn unlucky :( He did string a nice bunch of matches for Quins last season but then pre-season comes along and boom, he's out again.

Willis covers all 3 slots. I'd have him in the 23 for sure. He's a beast. Hot damn, we're going to struggle to fit them all in.

Not sure Willis is quite the ball carrier like those two. That said, I’m too busy eulogising over his 20 turnovers a match to look at his carrying.

Once Billy retires early to be a plumber, I’d love Mercer to cement the no8 spot.

He did well, Zach did better.

Of and compulsory "Nowell is slower" comment

I was entertained.

Sets things up nicely for a huge breakfast and a huger match in the morning.

Weather really put paid to any kind of rugby being played.
Credit to Bath who did well to arrive at h/t level and ground out a win. Exe look a bit out of sorts to me, but that can easily change.

Yeah well done to bath. That was a proper shit fest of a game though. After watching these world cup matches that felt like going back in time to the 80's or some thing. Does the rec have any sort of drainage under the pitch?

Top class.
But there's only so much you can do when the grass is about 1/2 inch above the water table.
Planned new stadium raises the pitch
