Northampton v Leinster Sat 1pm

Post by fivepointer »

Game of the weekend for me. Be fascinating to see if Saints can impose their game on Leinster.

Saints: Tuala; Collins, Proctor, Hutchinson, Naiyaravoro; Biggar, Reinach; Waller (cc), Haywood, Painter; Moon, Ratuniyarawa; Wood, Gibson, Harrison (cc).
Replacements: van Vuuren, van Wyk, Hill, Coles, Ludlam, Tupai, Grayson, Francis.

Leinster: Larmour; D Kearney, Ringrose, Henshaw, Lowe; Sexton (c), Gibson-Park; Healy, Kelleher, Porter; Toner, Ryan; Ruddock, van der Flier, Doris.
Replacements: Tracy, E Byrne, Furlong, Fardy, Deegan, McGrath, R Byrne, R Kearney.

Need to up their lineout game, and surprised Ludlam is benched (though may be connected).

Yeah - that was my first thought - Gibson and Wood are both very good lineout forwards.

Is Furbank injured? I’d have liked to have seen him tested against Leinster.

Furbank has a head knock, which in light of his issues last season they are being ultra cautious with.

Can see Saints causing Leinster some issues with their attacking game, but ultimately Leinster’s setpiece and power game will be too much. A shame that Northampton are missing O.Franks, Lawes and Ribbans- all big losses.

Shame Dingwall is now blocked by Proctor, but them's the breaks.

Some classic English rugby from Saints here. Great until the last 10 metres then clueless, with clog hands.

Saints being schooled in defence and finishing- and that errors get heavily punished at this level

Doris looking a very handy 8. He's only 21 and will be pushing for an Ireland cap this season.

Fraid so. Bit of a reality check.

Leinster were a step up in class and far too good.
