Afternoon matches

Post by fivepointer »

Very good win for Saints at Lyon in a very entertaining, though far from error free game. Saints sowed great character to keep coming back and eventually pull away from the home side. Liked the work of Lawes and Ludlam a lot. Harrison was always in the thick of it. Furbank scored a cracking try but did make a number of errors and wasnt at his sharpest overall.

Bath just fell short against Ulster, despite being the better side up to half time and only a score away on 70 minutes. Another game that they might have won. Underhill excellent, as were Stuart and Obano. Ewels made a very timely return from injury and is in line for an England call up. The teenage Hamer-Webb showed up very well. Looking forward to seeing him with the u20's.

Havent watched Quins and Exeter are next up.

It's all a bit tame compared with the Saracens relegation news - unfortunately.

Nice to focus on some actual rugby though i accept there is perhaps bigger news elsewhere.

Agree with twitchy about Exeter. After a scratchy first half they really got into gear. LCD was sensationally good. Hill terrific and Devoto put in a telling and lively cameo. Both Simmonds had strong games.

And Jngf, if you’re reading; Simmonds continues to punch well above his weight in contact and make yards that you might not expect of a (comparatively) smaller 8.
