Other 6N games

Thoughts on Wales - Italy? Only kept half an eye on it but Italy looked pretty toothless and it was pretty easy for Wales, never really threatened. The Italian defense was agressive out side but seemed to keep overrunning, making it easy for wales to make yards through midfield. The welsh backrow was impressive though and I wasn't sure coming in.
If Allan had chosen to stick with Scotland, how many caps would he have by now?

Probably 25. He was further along than Russell when he first got capped - those two competing with each other would have been great. He's a decent fly half but I hate the guy. The fact he's constantly on the end of prison shaming results like this brings me great amusement. All so he could get capped 17 seconds earlier...
The game in general. I only had it on in the background but i don't understand how Biggar was onside to set up Tomkins' try. He overran the ball carrier, ruck was set up, biggar runs into the ruck from the italian side to release the ball. Is that not a near-enough dictionary definition of offside?

His parents live in England still. He's lived in England, SA, France, Italy & Scotland. He was developed by Scotland and chased the quickest route to international rugby available. There's no two ways about it.
4% win rate in the 6N. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

born in Italy, Mum Italian. Went to school in England and to Wasps academy. Then to Western Province u19s. He played for us at U20s but AFAIK never lived here and was not developed by Scotland outside those U20 appearances.
And then he sought a pro contract. He was offered one in Perpignan.
He could have chosen Scotland, would have been better for him probably. But he didn't. I don't get the snidey hate though, seems to be a speciality of yours

I'm not being snide in the slightest. I don't like the guy. Let me know if I can spell it out any further for you.

Anyway back to the thread, Italy weren't all that bad in terms of organisation and everyone knowing what they want to do, but they just aren't quite good enough to be able to do it when being taken apart by a very comfortable looking Wales. On paper our game in Italy should be there for the taking ............

the lack of self awareness comes as no surprise. Snide (and its a pattern not a one off), with no explanation of why you don't like him. Go on spell it out. Did he shag your bf? or your maw?

My problem with Allan was more a combination of him and the rules.
If he knew he'd "turn his back" on Scotland within 4 months of finishing u20s to then play for Italy then he should have never accepted an u20 call up. The rules should also have a cooling off period between playing for u20s for one country then full internationals for others. From memory the SRU offered him a 7s contract for a season which wasn't uncommon back then but he was well within his rights to say no.
I don't dislike him, but would never seek him out to see how he is doing the way I occassionally do other former u20s.

much better post.
I think he could have helped his own image by handling things a bit better, he managed to be portrayed as a bit ungrateful and petulant. But we don't know for sure.
What I do know is that he desperately wanted to be a professional rugby player. A Scotland 7s contract back then paid peanuts (and not much more now) but he took a contract with Perpignan and on the back of that got an Italy call up.
Rugby is a job these days, first and last. He made a choice, he knew when he turned down the 7s offer it might go tits up, but in fact it has worked out ok for him as a career playing for the country he grew up in. He was never going to get the starts for Glasgow or Edinburgh back then that he did in France and so Italy

Teeming with homophobia. I wonder what we did to deserve you gracing the SMB.

No problem with him turning down the 7s deal or not playing in Scotland. It did show that Scotland were interested in him longer term. We don't offer deals, even if 7s deals to many 9s or 10s.
He could have played in France and still been available for Scotland duty.
I don't have a big issue with him, but knowingly playing for our u20s knowing he'd drop them for Italy at his 1st opportunity is pretty poor IMO. If he waited a year or 2 then fair enough. But that is also why I blame the eligibility rules for that sort of situation.
As I say, don't particularly dislike him but won't go out my way to see how he is getting on.

Transphobic as well. Classic.
As I said, there's no snide hatred. It's quite blatant and it's quite clearly explained above - that he screwed Scotland over in pursuit of the fastest route to international rugby. If you can't grasp that concept then I can't help you much.

Committed but low quality game...weather notwithstanding. Good to see France see it through unlike the Welsh game last year.
There will be no complacency at Murrayfield after that

the only thing that is classic is you wriggling after a snide post. You "don't like" a guy because he chose a country who first offered a full cap and with whom he has much closer ties with? SRU offered him peanuts and no security.
He chose security
I mean, is that it? Really?
What a sad shallow person you are. And snide. did I mention snide? You do snide well, its a real talent you have. Looks like the only one so don't diss it.

hope we don't get a backlash.
France took their chances (big lesson for us) without being much in the game. And nearly managed to blow it late on

Watching Wales v Ireland, that Welsh 13 who everyone was creaming themselves about last week is being relentlessly targeted and exploited by Ireland... Turns out he's not the Messiah after all. So far he's been a very naughty boy, seems to have missed more tackles than he's made.

Ireland up at half time and deservedly so, a much improved performance from them over last week. Wales by contrast look like Italy flattered them last week, although their try was a thing of beauty.

Pivac's Wales is going to be very different from Gatland's. You can't read too much into the game against the Italian fixtures where the only indicator of doing the job is securing the BP.
I wonder how much longer AWJ can go on as well, he must be at least 35 now.

Evans looks pretty lively though. How long before the Welsh clamour for an attacking ten starts up again?

Wales problem today hasn't been their 10 it's been their forwards, well beaten in the loose by Ireland. No shame in that but it needs fixing before they focus on who is controlling the game from 10.

Can I just reiterate how much I dislike jiffy. There is no way that is a penalty try. He does the sport a disservice by being quite so one eyed
