Melrose Side in Late 70s
Came across a lovely site with programmes of Scottish Club Rugby from days gone by. Saw one programme listing Melrose fixtures from autumn of 1978 and saw to my slight surprise that the great back row Finlay Calder actually played at lock on several occasions - can anyone remember that Melrose side - respect for versitility of all players who can cover so many roles it’s some repetoire to cover the range spanning no.5 through to no.7!

I thought Findlay Calder played all his time at Stew Mel or Heriot's. It might be a different Findlay Calder?jngf wrote:Came across a lovely site with programmes of Scottish Club Rugby from days gone by. There are some great names from some of those old amateur teams (though I suspect some of the rugby was very niggly). What was the site?
I remember seeing some great Melrose sides when I was a kid when we were trying to get to grips with professionalism
