I'm proposing a new thread showing tries from the past and we'll kick off with this one by Finlay Calder in Cardiff in 1982:

I'd like to share Sean Lamont's try against Saracens when playing for Northampton.

Unfortunately with the way the internet is going most of the videos have been pulled... If anyone can find it - virtual karma to you.

Richie Vernon V Bath away. Glasgow injury ridden in the back row had Vernon back to 8 after seasons at 13, Fraser Brown at 7

Couple that spring to mind from when I was younger:
Peters v Wales - second try in the video, 2 tries from us v France after.

Grimes v Ireland -

And of course, honourary Scot, Scott Gibbs v England -

Those are all great. I'd forgotten how much pace Townsend had. My main memories were of him being shuffled round positionally while our tactics were based around praying for rain.

Saw that Grimes try live too. Back then I just assumed we were better at rugby than Ireland

If that is the game I am thinking of, watch the whole match, King Carlos et al on fire, Lamont had four that day....

Was it 2003/4 (Ish)?

Unfortunately .

I`d like to share his try against NZ at Murrayfield, when a Blair break gave him a sprint chance from inside the Scottish 22.
Unfortunately, he didn`t make it..

Can anyone find the Patterson try against SA in Durban in 2003? Haven't been able to track it down at all. We were so close to winning that too.

The Northampton game made me think of this

That was unbelievable. Think Blair went from basically our own try line then Umaga gradually chased Lamont down

Warriors latest replay on their youtube channel yesterday features 2 tries as good as you'll get, length of the park, restart length of the park
And if you watch it all you'll see Alex Allan (loosehead) sell a better dummy than the Tom Smith one above, its a beaut.
