Video:

Chris Ashton must be spitting tacks. I've got absolutely no idea how they decided to ban him for what was clearly accidental contact and then acquit Wilson for attempting to remove Kruis from a maul by his eyeballs.

Well I never thought I would say this but I actually have some sympathy for Ashton. I'm sure a strong mug of coffee will help...

It's a disgraceful decision - but I wouldn't go that far.

If it helps, just remind yourself that Ashton has about 20 un-earned caps to his name, and any sympathy should dissipate nicely.

Farcical. The disciplinary process again show itself not to be fit for purpose and does make me feel just a little bit sorry for Ashton.

It's barely a surprise at this point. Rugby officialdom loves from time to time picking on an issue and declaring it important, perhaps even dishing out some bans whilst ignoring most transgressions and soon going on to to forget about what it was that once was declared important.

It has been suggested that the citing panel deemed that playing for Bath for the rest of this season was a harsher punishment than sitting on a beach somewhere - hence the decision.

Francis will feel aggrieved by getting 8 weeks (?) for accidentally tickling Cole's nose.

I'm sure he would if that was remotely what had happened.
