Bath types, what can you tell me about him? We have just signed hi at Ulster. Apparently Irish qualified.

Nickname is 'Red'....they've sold you a pup.....

Very good at school level. Played for Wellington at both 10 & 12, though more often than not 10. England schoolboy throughout the age groups, but did his knee badly before U18 tour to SA. Very skilful though his defence lacked at times. Great range of passing and a good bag of tricks. Good runner too.

Left L.Irish academy to join Bath, but hasn't had a look in since and wants to try and get a career going. Rumours of being released, rumours of being poached when he left Irish. It's a shame as if he'd stayed at Irish he'd have got decent game time, or certainly should have.

He's certainly worth a punt.

I have a feeling I've seen his name on the odd academy team sheet; but don't quote me on that. Oldest but 3rd choice* FH in the Bath academy is about all I can tell you; and I'm pretty familiar with the other 2 - who've both debuted for Bath 1sts, and both played U20 international

For some reason I think he has had some injuries. Rather key to us is that he's Irish. If he turns out not to be much cop then I guess we'll see more of Olding at 10 and may revisit the Nelson experiment but I trust the coaches to have a decent eye for these things.

How much did he play for FH? Attracted a lot of flak for his FH performances at U20 level for Ireland. Got the impression he was more of a FB at schools level?

Played more fullback than flyhalf, by a distance.
