And possibly two unrelated Moons, if the stars align
With a few of Hills knocking around too.

What do we reckon is the fewest number of surnames we'd need for a viable 23 from current players?

I recognise that having the Youngs brothers might save us one by getting a 2 and 9 combo, but even in a pointless nusing like this I'd rather rule out that horror at all costs.
1. MVunipola
2. TTaylor
3. HWilliams
4. JHill
5. THill
6. BCurry
7. TCurry
8. JWillis

9. BYoungs
10. MVunipola
11. JCokanasiga
12. SHill
13. SJames
14. PCokanasiga
15. LJames

16. TYoungs
17. BMoon
18. PHill
19. AMoon
20. TWillis
21. BVunipola
22. HTaylor
23. JWilliams

Yes, I know 16thM said no Youngses, but it's much harder to do without them.

Going to admit I was too lazy to do this myself, but knew there'd be a few regulars who couldn't resist setting up a thread on it

It's this or working!

Both scrum-halves unfortunately, so won't actually help. Same issue as for the Burnses.

Possibly the obly time I'll lament Tom Francis choosing Wales, as otherwise he and Piers Francis could be the prop and backs subs.

Will Stuart at prop and Sam Stuart the Newcastle SH on the bench

You’ve only chosen 1 Simmonds, though

Harry and for the time Johnny Williams. Clutching at straws completely you could then also go for Matt Williams the Worcester EQ backrow/hooker.

Or Tommy Taylor hooker and Henry Taylor scrum half.

And if Simmonds missses out, therefore you could put Jack Walker at 2 and Charlie Walker at 15 (he's played there (badly)).

Which would leave us with:

Vunipola
Walker
Stuart
Hill
Hill
Curry
Curry
Willis
Youngs
Vunipola
Cokanasiga
Hill
James
Walker
James

Youngs
Moon
Hill
Moon
Willis
Vunipola
Stuart
Cokanasiga

10 names.

But 2 Championship players...

Taylors a good shout.

Could then dump the Youngses :D

Don't bring facts into this!

Had the same problem with this as with any EQP selection - too many back rows!

And too few 9s.

Though surprisingly, a veritable forest of 12s!

Which is the most important thing.

Once we've sorted this out we could dodge work by trying to get Samoa down to about three or four?

Stretch that to a PI team and let's go.

Are we still discussing rugby or have we moved on to gene pool?

Well one does someone correlate to the other. Not quite as much these days though given the national teams tendency to cap any import as soon as possible.

Also I see you've selected Ben Curry at 6. I just don't think he's got the physicality or the line-out presence to play there. Particularly not with a lightweight like Hill at lock. Is Simon Shaw still playing for Toulon? Has he got a brother?

What are people's thoughts on the merits of a more traditional pairing of a fetching, linking openside with a tough, grafting blindside. Two opensides together is just unnatural. I don't want to say it's wrong, but I don't think it's the way god intended.
Give it a rest already.

So much for GDPR Jngf - but as they say plagiarism is the greatest form of flattery :)
