Has anyone else seen this yet - the new series that is?
I caught up with it this morning. Bit of a mixed bag in many ways, some genuine laugh out loud moments, but also some sketches which were more crude than funny.
Priti Patel as a dominatrix was amusing and the portrayal of Cummings also.
The Trump sketches were a bit flat - perhaps reality is just too weird for parody?

Only watched the first episode and thought it was a mixed bag too.
Thought the Priti Patel dominatrix was Davina McCall at first then it made more sense when the penny dropped!
Don't see the point of Trump being parodied in this way...if anything it kinda softens the reality of him considering the shit he says and does.
I wonder if the original series from the 80s have aged well?

I find Cummings a bit naff, tbh. Patel is good, the musical numbers have been good (especially Super Kiwi Socialistic), but some have just been fall flat...
I think it is hard to parody this stuff as it's just so insane already.

It's pretty much impossible to parody Trump or BJ; or the situations of Brexit or Coronavirus - official responses area already beyond parody.
Cummings as an alien could have worked, but... somehow doesn't; VamPatel is great; Gove is hit and miss, whilst Raab and Hancock are utterly Meh.
Jared and Ivanka are good though, as is Ardern, and I love their Attenborough - though that one joke is going to get old if they don't change it up next time out.

Is Putin in it? There's surely some legs there.

Re: Spitting Image
It was quite similar to the old Spitting Image, so quite hit and miss, albeit with fantastic puppets.
The biggest problem for me is that the Johnson character isn't satirical. It's a pretty much the same jovial, disheveled, optimistic character that he plays when he acts on the stage for us. So I'm sure the real Boris is chuffed with the whole thing.
