SRA 2021

In the headline match of the opening round, the underdog Blues, bedraggled by the mini lockdown that left them unable to train while their opponents were in full training conditions, have valiantly overcome the dastardly Hurricanes. In no small part thanks to the Blues forwards dishing out a good old fashioned prison pounding on route to a comfortable 31-16 win.
Also there was some South Island welter weight match up the night before or something. idk. Who cares.
Anyway, onto the official points table.

Shame the Chiefs didn't think to try to play the whole match today.

Are the Crusaders and the Blues each other's only real competition this year? The others have had some good moments but might struggle to put a full 80 together.

More or less I'd say. Neither of the other three have impressive packs right now so, worst comes to worst, the Blues and Crusaders can just rumble over the top of them.
Probably doesn't help that the Blues and Crusaders each basically have a high quality reserve pack in their squads, but there we go.

Yep. Last win was smashing the Waratahs 51-14 just over a year ago.
Since then we've lost 10 in a row, with an average margin of only 7.7. Half of those were lost by 5 points or fewer. Top 2 inches problem, I reckon.

Sam Cane....his feckin eyes are far too close together, like a guy that met his cousin at a take aways and married her.

Bloos look mean when they rumbling, but they don't half pull some stupid shit sometimes. They are pretty close to a complete unit though, lots of scrapping behind the gainline excepted.

If they poach him and land us with Fozzie and whatever mutant is with the Chiefs right now, piglets will be dropped.

Based on what Ive seen of Super Rugby so far this season if Fozzie cant forge a very very good side out of the talent on display then he should be sacked. Id say losing more than one test is not good enough.

Yeah, but will he select the talent. We got badly smacked around a couple of times already on his watch.

I can't help but think that once again, the Blues are without a truly first class 10. Otere was good, but.... Would like to see Finlay Christie get a start, maybe he can run things behind the pack Smith style.

The pack should really just be Blues and Crusaders + Aumua and Cane. But I'm sure he'll dig up some undersized and/or show pony loosies from the Chiefs, Highlanders, or Hurricanes to join Ardie and relegate the likes of Akira and Papali'i to carrying the luggage.

I don't know why Akira hasn't been given a proper shot yet.
