Quins vs Bristol, Friday, October 8th (7.45pm KO)

Post by jimKRFC »

Bristol:
15. Charles Piutau; 14. Niyi Adeolokun, 13. Piers O’Conor, 12. Sam Bedlow, 11. Henry Purdy; 10. Callum Sheedy, 9. Harry Randall; 1. Yann Thomas, 2. Jake Kerr, 3. Kyle Sinckler, 4. Joe Joyce, 5. Chris Vui, 6. Fitz Harding, 7. Jake Heenan, 8. Steven Luatua (c).

Subs: 16. Harry Thacker, 17. Jake Woolmore, 18. Max Lahiff, 19. Ed Holmes, 20. Dan Thomas, 21. Andy Uren, 22. Ioan Lloyd, 23. Alapati Leiua.

Harlequins Starting XV
1. Joe Marler (227), 2. Jack Walker (2), 3. Simon Kerrod (46), 4. Matt Symons (65), 5. Dino Lamb (50), 6. Tom Lawday (41), 7. Jack Kenningham (14)
8. Alex Dombrandt (78) Captain, 9. Danny Care (308), 10. Tommy Allan (2), 11. Cadan Murley (50), 12. Andre Esterhuizen (21), 13. Joe Marchant (115)
14. Louis Lynagh (15), 15. Tyrone Green (23)

Impact Players
16. Sam Riley (3), 17. Fin Baxter (3), 18. Will Collier (189), 19. Hugh Tizard (15), 20. James Chisholm (113), 21. Scott Steele (17), 22. Marcus Smith (110), 23. Luke Northmore (29)

Going on form you have to say that Quins are favourite for this one.

On a Bristol note I'd rather see Bates & Bailey in the squad over Adeolokun & Leiua.

Quins after the bye week should be fresh and up for this one. Nice mix of youth and experience in the squad. No Lewies might be a loss but second row isn't normally the area of concern Vs Bristol. Is Lewies injured?

Smith can be eased in from the bench.

Bristol have retained Kerr after his stellar performance from the bench last weekend. I don't really know what's happening with them, they look like the team in need of a bye week really just to sit down and work out what's going wrong.

There does seem to be a general lack of sharpness all over the pitch. Hughes being dropped again suggests something is up with him - either dropped to get fitter or dropped cause he's off.

Can you be dropped if you weren't selected the previous week?

I do think the win last week might have rejuvinated Bristol a bit, and there'll be a lot of motivation after the semi last year.

Getting a win will have eased the pressure. i thought there were signs last week that Bris were getting into stride.

Pleased to see Harding getting a start.

If we get a game half as good as the Prem SF it will be a treat.

I agree. Quins have picked up 10 points so far without really getting out of second gear. I suspect Bristol will be really up for it and we will need to raise our game if we don’t want to get caught out.

Yeah two wins by six points is a little close for comfort. Don't want to give Bristol that chance to gun for a win late on. I seem to remember Falcons made Quins sweat towards the end. The Quins bench has a bit of quality on it though so maybe they can finish out a bit stronger.

I agree with fivepointer if it's anything like the SF last year this is going to be excellent.

Very fun game, both sides both going for it.

The disallowed Quins try comes from a tough pass but the sweeping counter attack all come from a horrible kick through from Randall after Bristol's own break.

This game should have tries in it.

Some pretty wild stuff so far. Fun though. Care looking like he might have one of those evenings, made some poor decisions.

Fantastic run from Lynagh but delayed too long on the pass when he didn't need to. Dombrandt could have made it a bit easier for him though.

Healey and Kay absolutely excruciating.

I'm a fan of Kay as a commentator, very knowledgeable. Healey depends what mood he's in, seems in one of his less inflammatory ones this evening.

Randall makes up for the awful kick throw with that break, very nice and leaves it in a plate for his forwards to finish.

Well this is a kick in the arse. Well deserved lead for Bristol.

I wish the commentators would shut up about the semi.

Lovely try from first phase from Quins. I do like a dummy maul to tie in the forwards so the playmakers can then move it quickly to the backs looking to isolate defenders.

Barnes having an interesting one too. That counter-ruck seemed to go on for about 10 seconds with Bristol holding on to the ball.

Healey and Kay as a double act is always abominable. I'd almost prefer Barnes (almost!)

The Bristol right winger conceded a penalty for an extra roll, had it explained by Barnes and then did the same thing not long afterwards. That must infuriate the coaches.

Yeah I thought the Bristol guy was a bit unlucky there.
