I'm willing to bet that the standard of rugby in the Prem will be held up as some vindication for no relegation (and I suppose it's possible that it could be), but I have to credit the IRB for the law variations. The 50:22 has been an unmitigated success in encouraging attacking from your own half by forcing teams to keep two back for the kick. More surprisingly, the goal-line dropout, something which most of us had a shrug of the shoulders about the point of, has made a major difference by incentivising grubbers and chips into the 22 and thus forcing defences to keep players back to cover and stopping a 15 man press. Previously any kick that rolled over the tryline went for a 22 drop-out which could be kicked into the opposition half, whereas a goal-line dropout is a pretty solid attacking opportunity.

So far, I'm in favour of every one of the law changes.
