Six Nations speculation.

Post by twitchy »

Lots of chat flying around about it taking place in one country. The welsh have already apparently bagged the new white heart lane in tottenham. What we do we reckon to all this?

Cant see it going ahead in front of sell out crowds in the 6 nations.

I'm not even sure any one country would want to host it without any restrictions. Full houses in Paris or Rome? Doubtful i'd say and even England might struggle to stage the games.

Obviously we will have to wait and see what happens over the next 2-3 weeks but i suspect we will see a tournament played in the usual venues but with reduced attendances.

I would have thought it was in everybody's interest NOT to play matches in empty or part-filled stadia. However, decisions need taking today, not tomorrow. Long-winded committee rulings have no place in the modern, professional game.

Scotland at St James Park, Ireland at Anfield, Wales at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, France at Brighton and Hove Albion and Italy at Goldington Rd. Genius.

Hmm you'd though Wales would have gone for something just over the bridge and easy for their fans to commute to rather than forcing them on the train to London. They've also got a problem with Spurs having games at home in two of their three home 6N games.

I'd have thought the Ricoh or Villa Park would have been more logical choices for Wales.

St James Park makes a lot of sense for Scotland to use.

I'm not sure France will want to see their games moved abroad so close to the world cup.

More Welsh (and "Welsh" with less connections than Shane Howarth) people in London than there are in Wales - if they can't have it in Cardiff, you'd've thought that was their next best shot at selling out a stadium.

They played at Wembley whilst the Mil Stad was being built and, iirc, they pretty much sold that out. Trains between Cardiff and London are pretty good…. just ask Gavin Henson.

True but having it in the capital city of your main rival just feels odd to me. Irrespective of how selling out the stadium, I mean being realistic they'll sell out any reasonably selected stadium in Manchester, London, Liverpool or Birmingham.
