I'd have thought official denials, and paper articles would be okay - but let's hear from the mod.s before even that; but we should probably all be aware.

I’d guess 29 yo former international could be any number of people, and not necessarily a household name.

I was going to post that on here (it was in a telegraph article that I saw), but then realised the article read specifically stated that they had it confirmed that the player was not in the EPS, so it wasn't relevant to England selection and I didn't actually have much to say about it

However, I will take a moment to remind anyone that needs it that a) any suggestions of names and likelihoods could be taken very badly from a legal perspective and no-one wants Hammy to get sued, and b) this board is a "don't be a dickhead" space, so think before you post.

ETA - public denials by players/associates are fine to post, if any further of them come up - I don't think anyone's going to be too upset at a message being propagated that they're not a rapist. What won't be allowed is any poster saying names of who it might or might not be and I also probably won't allow any posting of articles naming names as the suspect unless they are very, very well corroborated.{/Mod}

Think it's the accuser who is 41. Says in the Mail article linked in the thread.

The accuser is the 18 year old from my reading, the 41 year old is the sex worker that the 29 year old went to with the girl. The sex worker is claiming to have had nothing to do with it, except letting them use her spare room.

Very much so. Must have been pretty awful to wake up to the press accusing you of that.

There's one player who's name seems to be doing the rounds now. Won't post as not concrete and as seen extremely unfair for those who are innocent but the evidence is England international of 29 in the Manchester area has led to the general next social media guess, expecting some sort of comment shortly if also innocent.

Depends on what you want to call England international. Think there's 3 that have been in the England squad, if you include Barbarians and Saxons, or just being involved in the England squad. Considering it was the DM that broke it, I'd not put that past them.

I will note that "former England international" is a term thrown around by the media reporting and could mean anything from someone who's been in a youth team, A-team, Barbarians match, to someone who's never been involved with England at all and the media just have built up a rumour. I'm aware of who the name is that's going around social media, but there's nothing actually to link him other than "Hey, he fits the criteria!" which is a pretty awful way to link someone's name to rape. There's actually at least three 29 year olds in the Sale squad with some international experience who it could be, but we're not going to have any more suggestions, innuendo, or winking on here. This is a final warning before the thread is shut.
