Re: Premiership Rugby Cup midweek games
Great scheduling, putting the game on Tuesday, immediately after Leicester played on Sunday. Still, the depth of the Leicester squad at the moment gives a bit of experience in Hegarty, Muri, Socino, Saumaki, van Wyk, Clare, and Robinson. Some exciting young talents around that structure too - first starts for Browning, Ilione, and Chessum the Younger, and looking forward to seeing more of Lancaster and Edwards at half-back. Didn't know Agbongbon could play lock though - could be a bit of a lightweight second row there.
Off the bench there's a load of age-grade names with burgeoning reps - be keen to see Woodward and Koroiyadi play as I've heard lots and seen nothing of them so far.
Irish also busting out the youth as well with Brooke, Joseph, Arundell, et al all getting a go. Odd that Munga's on the bench behind Cunningham-South - although just checked and he played at the weekend which explains it. Irish played on Saturday, but that's not a great deal better for recovery.
Actually interested in this game given the youngsters on display - is it on television anywhere?

Re: Premiership Rugby Cup midweek games
I assume they're on PRTV no? Or are they still in the trial phase?
If so, there's enough kids out there that I might try to watch - though I suspect Wuss will be going full force in an attempt to get something out of this season - in which case, I've no interest in watching a Pythonesque teachers vs students match

Warriors | 15 Perry Humphreys, 14 Tom Howe, 13 Robbie Smith, 12 Seb Atkinson, 11 Matt McNab, 10 Billy Searle (C), 9 Ollie Wynn, 1 Lewis Holsey, 2 Beck Cutting, 3 Jack Owlett, 4 James Scott, 5 Justin Clegg, 6 Jack Forsythe, 7 Finn Thomas, 8 Caleb Montgomery.
Replacements | 16 Joe Richardson, 17 Kai Owen, 18 Mitch Walsh, 19 Cheick Kone, 20 Harvey Cuckson, 21 Lekima Ravuvu, 22 Will Chudley, 23 Alex Forrester.
To be fair to Worcester that doesn't look particularly strong.

Looking at that Bristol side and it's a reflection our injuries this season that it could be a league game side.. Hopefully strong enough to get a result.

It looks like a PRC squad, they couldn't have popped that team into the league game Vs Glaws and not suffered anything other than record Prem defeat.Which Tyler wrote:way stronger, but yes, not Gloucester strongFKAS wrote:To be fair to Worcester that doesn't look particularly strong.

Tigers beat LI 41-26. Sounds like it was a close first half but the Tigers managed to exert pressure at the start of the second half and pull away.
Hopefully the replay will be on the Prem website for viewing tomorrow evening.
From the comments I've seen Tigers scrum was on top and Ilione had a good game (holding a LI attacker up over the tryline and turning over Arundell for a Tigers penalty that led to a try from the subsequent rolling maul).

Sale looked quite good last night from the highlights reel with the backs looking sharp and did well considering three yellow cards.fivepointer wrote:Sale had a good win at Harlequins, 34-29. Lots of good youngsters out on both sides.
A number of the backs have enjoyed dual registration at various clubs (inc Coventry, Caldy, Sale FC and Doncaster) and the experience gained there seems to be coming through. Good to see James Harper back playing....he definitely has the potential to kick on to good things.
In the Quinns team Cleaves looks a good prospect from the brief highlights and another good winger to come through the Quinns Academy.

Re: Premiership Rugby Cup midweek games
Result aside, I think Quins got a lot of what we would have wanted from this game. Ultimately this competition is not a priority for us and it’s more important for us to use it as a rehab and development opportunity.
Ramping up Evans’ and David’s participation, giving more game time to the likes of Hammond, Jurevicius and Beard, finally giving CSW a run out and a great debut for Cleaves.
I’m not really too bothered if Gray, Chisholm and Stafford were among our weaker players. We’re talking about squad players who are 3rd or 4th choice and won’t trouble our 23 unless we have a major injury crisis.

Re: Premiership Rugby Cup midweek games
Highlights are here (scroll down a bit): https://video.premiershiprugby.com/pr-tv
Watching the Leicester vs Irish one, was again struck by the impact of Arundell. He's got such a good eye for a gap and the explosive pace to make it through - he should be on the tour to Australia as an apprentice for definite. On the Leicester side, Lancaster looked good, although it's hard to tell from highlights. What was most noticeable is the Borthwick effect through the club from top to bottom - all of the Leicester highlights began with a lineout!
Quins vs Sale - Cleaves looked like he can show his schoolboy highlights reel at a higher level - he's impressed me every time I've seen him play. Was taken by the Quins 12 as well - had assumed he was a Quins 1st team squad filler player as he looked so physically outsized compared to the youngsters, but looking up the teamsheets it turns out he's a 21 year old academy product called Lennox Anyanwu. Hard to tell from highlights, but he looked big, powerful, quick, and decent hands - enough to start a new 12 messiah conversation at least. Any Quins fans able to give more info about him, whether he's rated, etc. etc.
