Six children and two adults in a critical condition. Two children dead. Five further children have injuries.

The attacker was originally from Cardiff. The injured adults were trying to defend the children.

It’s so fucking sad that there isn’t a moment to breathe between something like this happening and the conspiracy theories (or intentional disinformation) starting.

I’m not a Starmer fan but watching many in the crowd yesterday seemingly blame him for this was also very sad and confusing. I can’t imagine how painful all this is for them, but I don’t know how he is supposed to be responsible for it.

The police force having to deal with this for two days and then being pelted with rocks by the EDL the next. It’s hard to know what to say to that.

It seems like any sort of measured conversation around immigration, terrorism and violence towards women is going to be completely impossible in the age of the internet and this new, demented version of ‘free speech’.

Just fucking horrible from every angle.

Totally agree with all of that. Even the hint that the attacker was Muslim causes the nutters to assemble and riot. To be fair, this was always the case but the internet allows for such quick information flow, it’s really hard for the likes of the police to quash such rumours, even assuming anyone believes them.

The Starmer point is interesting. Is that a hang over from the conservatives alleging that he was soft on Islamic extrmists that people have picked up on?

Just glad this isn't a country where you can buy an automatic weapon on the high street.

It's a small mercy. However, there's plenty for sale in the right pubs if you know where to look. But I generally agree that the lack of automatic firearms is a good thing for all of us. Nutters can do enough damage with a knife.

You know what really pisses me off from all this. Cardiff is getting mentioned. People are saying he's Welsh. He left Wales age 6. More English than Welsh if you ask me.

Nigel Farage condemned for response to Southport stabbings as Reform MP accused of ‘inciting a riot’

The husband of murdered MP Jo Cox has accused the Reform leader of ‘peddling conspiracy theories’ over the tragedy that left three children dead

Ms Phillips, the MP for Birmginham Yardley, said: “Nigel Farage could yesterday have had the questions, he claims are unanswered, answered if he had bothered to turn up to parliament and ask them during the statement on the incidents in Southport. He didn’t turn up, he grifted instead.”

Despicable Trumpian behaviour from that poisonous waste of a parliamentary seat. It's only to be expected that he'd try to make political mileage out of murdered children.

And they're off again, this time in London
As the situation in Southport remains tense after violence last night, police are dealing with another protest outside Downing Street.

It follows false reports that the suspect in Monday's knife attack was an asylum seeker

Farage is being disgusting and canny in equal measure. Hes not going too far but just enough to get the wrong sort of people excited.

Of course, the police are an easy target as they can't release all the information that people want. The alleged knifeman is under 18 and has the protections afforded to a juvenile, no matter how disgraceful the crime is.

Unusually, the alleged knifeman has been named. Hopefully, this might put an end to the rioting taking place across the country. Sadly, it might not given that the individual comes from a family that immigrated to the UK. I'm not sure the generational difference will cut through with the nutters.

Watched the news last night. Can't believe this shit is still going on. It's more WTF England & NI? now though.

Funny how the truth about the suspect has made zero difference to these thugs. Almost like they enjoy hurting people, throwing bricks and setting things on fire. Nice to hear them using that Sunak slogan, stop the boats. Well done Tories for making far-right issues mainstream.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_Kingdom_riots

I wonder how much contact Farage and Reform actually have with these rent-a-mob cunts. This is making me think of the riots in Germany in the early 30s (although much less violent and deadly). Music to Farage's ears. This is how he wants the next 5 years to go, then it's further into power (especially if the Tories continue to be Reform-lite).

I can sort of see why Starmer didn't call Farage out on this. He doesn't want to give him any more oxygen, make Farage officially part of it. Treat it as a crime, not politics. He's never going to win a political charisma battle with Farage, so don't go there.
