I'd imagine Australia are probably most annoyed - they are coming to Bristol with the aim of getting a good test for their A-team, only to learn that Briz are going to be fielding a severely weakened side. I mean, imagine the hours they've spent of video analysis, strategy meetings, and tactics specifically designed to try and counter RICH LANE!! and then they find out he's off playing a cup match at 10 instead.

Since we're talking about it (and it's also a game of minimal interest which doesn't really need its own thread), here is the Brizzle lineup against Australia A:

STARTING XV

15 George Pearson [1]
14 Malelili Satala [1]
13 Will Wand [5]
12 Dan Kelly [85]
11 Jack Kinder [1]
10 Tom Threlfall [1]
9 Tom Whiteley [32]
1 James Whitcombe [52]
2 Archie Vanes [15]
3 Tim Hoyt [3]
4 Côme Joussain [6]
5 Tom Manz [9]
6 Matt Rogerson [19]
7 Samuel Williams [1]
8 Kyle Hatherell [23]

REPLACEMENTS

16 Charlie Clare [101]
17 Archie van der Flier [2]
18 Henry Mountford [1]
19 Lewis Chessum [10]
20 Harry Beddall *
21 Charlie Bemand [1]
22 Solomone Kata [21]
23 Charlie Myall [2]

*Leicester Tigers senior debut

Good to see Threlfall getting a run out, probably could have done with Volavola on the bench to help cover instead of two centres but nevermind. Kelly comes back in. No Ilione so perhaps he had a niggle last week, probably explaining why he came off relatively early and not one of the underperforming 6 and 8 who get another run out this weekend.

Good to see him with experience outside him too. Whitely was shite last week but can understand why he’s starting. Good to see Williams get out from the start.

Notts player of the month for Williams last month. He does seem to be coming through at a rate of knots.

Whiteley was a frustrating mixed bag as per usual last week. There's clearly a good player in there somewhere but ensuring he turns for more than 5 minutes at a time seems to be impossible. Given Allan is injured it's Whiteley or starting a pair of 19 year olds at halfback with a young backline outside of them.

Saints side for Nottingham tomorrow:

15 Ewan Baker
14 Rafe Witheat – Saint #2102
13 Tom Litchfield
12 Charlie Savala
11 Jake Garside
10 George Makepeace-Cubitt
9 Archie McParland

1 Tarek Haffar
2 Craig Wright
3 Luke Green
4 Will Spencer
5 Gavin Thornbury
6 Fyn Brown
7 Angus Scott-Young (c)
8 Reuben Logan

Replacements:
16 Nathan Langdon
17 Tom West
18 Ollie Scola – Northampton Saints debut
19 Ed Prowse
20 Archie Benson – Northampton Saints debut
21 Jonny Weimann
22 Billy Pasco – Northampton Saints debut
23 Toby Cousins – Northampton Saints debut

Much more youthful team (ignoring the second row) for the Championship side clash than we had for Tigers. Looking forward to seeing Logan and Benson in action.

It was not much of a match... Bristol just couldn't play for more than 3 or 4 phases without cocking something up & threw about 4 inception passes. Bath well drilled and organized and clinical on punishing mistakes.

Not sure Bath learnt much from it. Bristol learnt RICH LANE!!! Is not a 10, no control or composure from him, not his fault as he has (apparently) never played 10 before.

Bristol's bench front row were solid on their out in and messed Baths up, they also looked good ball in hand.

Boshoff had the pace, step and strength on his oppo, and looked good when they actually passed it to him and not the Bath 13…

Sella off with an injury, looked like an arm, but hopefully nothing serious.

Ref team was average - missed the Bath 2 (Tuipolotu?) crawl on his knees, while held, for his try. Also missed Bath pick a Bristol player off the floor and flip them onto their head/neck at a ruck. Other wise seemed ok.

Can't really moan but playing Oz l, and making a few quid, clearly the priority for Bris.
