No Farrundell for Racing is a bit disappointing.
I don't know much about Racing's tight five but I hope ours are up to it.

Leigh Halfpenny? It must be a slow, boggy pitch with rain forecast for game day…

...and Benson disappears. Not even playing for Scottish.

I guess, hopefully on that sort of rotation with Evans. Too many of these lads aren't getting enough game time though, I may have mentioned it before

You also have to pay your dues a bit as a young player and push yourself into more game time with good performances. He started three PRC games and has had a couple of bench spots for Quins. He's third choice at 22 and being give opportunity to state his case. Seems pretty fair.

No sh*t. He did play for us last year so I do know his scenario well, but thanks for restating the obvious. I was making a broader point, or do you disagree? He's 22, so not that young either btw, with less than 4 hours game time this season.
Is Vanes travelling with Tigers, do you know?

You cut out the bit where I said at 22 being third choice and being given game time to try and push on further.Banquo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:39 pmNo sh*t. Vanes played off the bench last weekend and is the travelling reserve this weekend. Montoya is out otherwise he'd be starting, he missed last weekend as well.

I know because it was a broader point, and he still has less than 4 hours game time and even that a good chunk against champ oppos. Is that enough time to develop/prove.FKAS wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:58 pmYou cut out the bit where I said at 22 being third choice and being given game time to try and push on further.Banquo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:39 pmNo sh*t. Basically imo prem teams are still warehousing too many 20-24 year olds.

I reckon players like Jarrod in front of him are the bigger problem… simply not good enough, but preferred to a youngster because of… what?Banquo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 5:12 pmI know because it was a broader point, and he still has less than 4 hours game time and even that a good chunk against champ oppos. Agreed that’s the problem I’m pointing too. It’s happening everywhere.Stom wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 5:18 pmI reckon players like Jarrod in front of him are the bigger problem… simply not good enough, but preferred to a youngster because of… what?Banquo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 5:12 pmI know because it was a broader point, and he still has less than 4 hours game time and even that a good chunk against champ oppos. Sat behind an international in the short term whilst learning and playing? Likely promoted to second choice next season when Jarrod is moved on. I wouldn't say that's a massive issue.
Has Benson shown anything in his three starts to suggest he's a must play prospect? Honest question I have no idea.

Me either… but one last time, it’s a broader point. You seem to be ok with prem clubs warehousing players.FKAS wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 5:30 pmSat behind an international in the short term whilst learning and playing? (On the specific, as it has you gripped, I’d say playing so little isn’t really helpful at his age)

I’d suggest any young 10 with any potential shouldn’t have much to learn from Jarrod…FKAS wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 5:30 pmSat behind an international in the short term whilst learning and playing? Huge difference between a bang average mid 20s player and an experienced but over the hill international. I don’t mind the latter. I do mind the former.

I like the way the showcase club rugby tournament in Europe has been scheduled for the times when the weather is best.
