Merry Christmas y'all!
I learnt a thing yesterday - apparently, introducing Ali as "my first wife" isn't as funny as I thought it would be (TBH, as I still think it is).
Why yes, I do like to live dangerously. Why does everyone keep asking me that?

Maybe try explaining the joke to her? That might make it better?

I met a Welsh guy in a pub in Toronto one time who was very drunk and introduced me to his "1st wife". She was also drunk and just laughed and laughed as she explained that they had been married decades ago, then divorced and he'd been married a couple of other times and divorced and then they had got back together.
So there you go.

Maybe suggest that your mother understood it and thought it funny. And maybe she should try to be more like your mum.
