So how come Halfpenny was playing for Toulon on Saturday and not Wales?

As I remember he had a setback in his knee recovery in April and wouldn't have any games before the tour so wasn't selected. I know a lot say Wales have moved on, but I think they will be better for having him back!

I know he had an injury, I would have thought if he was in a position to play we would have had him in the team what with our lack of experienced wingers.

First match back from a long injury lay off wasn't it?

By all accounts, he did very well too.

Good news for Wales but without any games before the NZ tour, he was never going to feature in the tests.

Bit short of match fitness perhaps from a Welsh perspective. Im not sure that he was nailed on to start last saturday until fairly late on, so probably best that he remains with his club for this one.

He played very solidly, missed 1 kick, created a try for Nonu with a half break (tho Nonu did see off some shameful tackling by Montpellier).

I suppose my point would be, if he was fit enough to play for his club, shouldn't he have been on tour with our physios assessing him rather than relying on info' from Toulon?

I don't know where they stand legally on it, but I think Team Wales thought, as he has been injured for months, it is not worth the ball ache.

I think you may be right, legally they have to release him as per the agreement between unions and the IRB as I understand it. If that is the case then we shouldn't be setting a precedent by allowing it, the only upshot of that could be more difficulty with player release.

You'd have taken someone who hasn't played for 8 months on the off chance he might manage a first game back at some time during a Test series against the ABs? That's... brave.

He did beat a defender in the game at the weekend to be fair, you never know when that might come round again.

Limited gametime is not 8 months out. A T14 semi is not an away tour to NZ. If you'd have picked him all power to you. I'll stick with brave.

How long do you think the Williams' were out for and how much gametime do you think they had?

Being as the original injury was assessed by the Welsh medical staff and rehab being what it is I don't see your point at all, unless you are suggesting the Welsh physios are rubbish.
