He'll only be missing the NPC, and will return to the Hurricanes next season. Skipping the NPC for some yen seems to be evolving into quite the sustainable option for senior franchise players and ex-AB's.

And either way, it's a sensible option for the elder statesmen of the game here, since they get some good money for a very short season. If he skips the Mitre 10 Cup, that'll mean he'd have a good, solid rest going into the Top League season, and with the depth that the Canes have at wing and fullback, he probably won't be rushed back into Super Rugby either.

Yep. All power to him. He's got a shitload of kids to think of and I'm not sure he's got many back-up career option. I suppose Sumo could always write another book for him.

He's actually not a bad speaker - you've probably heard him. I guess there's a limit to how long you can be a waggish former-AB as a career, unless you get on the Sky panel, but I've heard him a couple of times and he's surprisingly good. Also agree, good luck to him in Japan. Perfectly sensible move.Lizard wrote:Yep. All power to him. He's got a shitload of kids to think of and I'm not sure he's got many back-up career option.
