Bernie Sanders threw in the towel today in his epic campaign to win the Democratic Party’s nomination for president, standing on a stage in Portsmouth, New Hampshire beside the woman he had spent the whole primary season denouncing as a tool of the corporate elite and especially of the Wall Street banking cabal, and saying he endorsed her as the party’s candidate for president of the United States.

The event marked the sad, if widely predicted, end to what for a brief time had electrified millions of young and working class voters: a major party candidate for president openly calling himself a socialist, proudly harking back to his days as a radical civil rights activist instead of trying to hide his past and his arrest record, and unabashedly condemning the greed, corruption and lust for power of the nation’s ruling elite.

Somewhat inevitable it seems and then the almost now tradition of backing your opponent for the next one against the other party.

It's a shame as Bernie was a bit of a breath of fresh air in the usual monumental guff fest that is the US election jamboree.

It's hard to imagine a worse prospect for the world than La Clinton.

Bernie can now join the John Kerry club of people who've actually won an election but conceded defeat.

I guess with the stakes being played for, any threats are credible.

Jill Stein did a great interview, I couldn't find the snippet but she highlighted how this has happened before with a number of movements, they get amalgamated and swallowed into the DNC to never be heard of again. Obama campaigned on change, tough on banks, and peace - he turned out to be a lackey for Wall Street, has scaled up pretty much every war he's been involved in and produced more nukes than any POTUS since the missile crisis, and not much has really changed at all.

Such a shame. The wheels keep spinning.

Not surprised, I can't believe you are. While a handful may have their hearts in the right place, somebody does the Jedi mind trick on them and they become drones. Disappointing.

His foreign policy never seemed much different to anyone elses. Surprise surprise. We all know politicians don't make those decisions...

Debating ideas and listening to eachother is key and with any luck might spark some empathy for struggles every student faces at that age.
