Just been reading this interview with Wayne Privac and if he and his coaching staff can build on last year's style with some greater strength in depth then the Scarlets will be well worth a watch this season. I'm still not convinced that their fundamental problems are in the backline, but if they can provide an antidote to the crash bang wallop approach to rugby that we seem to see week in and week out then I'm all for it.

Probably coming from Newport doesn't help, but I just can't be arsed this season.
Faletau leaving was the last straw for me, barring a miracle, they may as well shut the doors at RP.
They seem to be completely without ambition, and if they can't be bothered, why should I?

Ditto. I'm finding it hard to get excited about Newport's campaign this season. I think pending finding a new investor (according to the Fail the other day there are 6 parties that have expressed reasonable interest in the proposition - take that as you will) this season is just a holding action whilst the situation behind the scenes is sorted out. Even with a new investor, lets be optimistic and suggest that someone with money to burn (almost literally) is willing to put finance in place as of next season, it will take some time to re-build.

I'll still watch them play and if time allows (spare time - WTF is that!) I'll get down for a match or 2. Ive been supporting Newport and the Dragons for too long to ditch them. I think that any entertaining rugby will necessitate me watching a few games from the other regions though.

FWIW, I don't blame Faletau for leaving. I'm almost surprised that he remained as long as he did to be fair. With his potential, he needs a higher class of rugby.

You do have a taylor made replacement in Harrison Keddie tho mikey, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do at the next level, he has bags of potential.

From a Scarlets perspective I'm looking forward to the new season, having played the whole of last season with an average 10 I'm hoping Patchell can bring something new to the party, the centre partnership is very strong, we could do with another winger tho I suspect Hadley Parkes may be used in that capacity.

Oh no, there's no doubt that Faletau has been excellent for them, never giving less than 100%, even despite the way that clown of a coach treated him, and I wish him nothing but the very best.

What stings, is the apparent lack of effort, both from Wales and Newport, to keep him.

Numbers, unless things improve at RP, Keddie won't be there long, and neither will anybody with any ambition.

I've been like this for a few seasons now, and always managed to muster a bit of enthusiasm, once the season starts.

Maybe I will again, but it's getting harder.

Our first choice team last year wasn't bad, but absolutely no depth. I'm hoping Keddie can get some game time and kick on. Bags of potential there if he continues to develop.
