Of course, Farrell will have his say and be listened to — and when he is playing at 12 I would have no reservations about him captaining the side. But if he going to be at No 10 from now on, this needs a serious rethink.

Michael Lynagh and Stephen Larkham were not Australia captains, Dan Carter and Grant Fox were not New Zealand skippers, Ronan O’Gara wasn’t the Ireland captain, nor has Johnny Sexton been the Ireland leader. Neil Jenkins, Diego Dominguez, Morne Steyn, Barry John . . . the list goes on.

Who the heck is Captain? If Ford then SCW is going to go maaad!!!!
Ford it is. What's SCW's problem? With that specifically, not just in general - we don't have all day.

Ha. That made me lol.

Great timing for Ireland to name Sexton as vice captain this weekend. 1 captain and 2 VCs in the 15, is that enough captains?

Selfless there, either JoCoka or George could have had that score for themselves

Missed 20 minutes and see George yellow carded and then Care cocking up. Has anything been going well?

Id have had Wilson off for Hartley there. He's given a lotmof penalties, and would be good if a coach could have a word and calm him down a bit

Coka has looked good

Poor defence on that try. Fair play to Japan. Good side, really going for it - taking lineouts instead of penalties.

Lozowski missed tackle. Farrell only missed 10 last week.

Very poor defence from the midfield there.

Oh and Japan keep trying to run it from deep. Very brave stuff. I'd not be certain about winning this.

Poor Ford gets blamed for a tackle he was 20m away from.

Hard not to love what Japan do. It would be hilarious if they beat us, with EJ putting out a change side after winning the job entirely on the back of leading Japan to victory over a tier 1 side.

Care looking generally better than Youngs but prone to lunatic moments. Big surprise.

I like that Cokanisiga picked out their Saffa lock of all people and absolutely tonked him.

He loves Farrell sooo much he wants Ford to take the blame.

Oh and Japan look better with the ball in hand than we do. And ....... they score. Some awful tackling but great handling and strength from Japan.

Backline looks like it's pretty scratch. England need to sort it out that was a 3-12 sinbin period.

Again, Barnes fails to call out a "favourite", ignoring Hartley's "attempt".

We could do with a real 7 on the pitch.
