Bath should start him in the 3 Prem cup games and hope that it can give him a confidence boost against some weaker teams.

Sport is a great redeemer, he’ll probably kick the winning penalty next week against Wasps or something.

It’s the job of his mates and teammates within the dressing room to bring him back up, but his manager/coach should be absolutely livid.

Personally find it quite easy to be really contemptuous of Burns as I’ve never liked him as a player -mentally weak and a liability.

It's not just not scoring a sitter - he missed three fairly straightforward kicks, including one so simple that I'd actually fastforwarded over it with the assumption that it was already scored. Then there was the perfect storm of fuck up with the try. If he hadn't slowed down to blow kisses, or if he'd not stopped to put the ball down, or if he had used two hands to put the ball down, or if he'd dived - any of those things would've seen the try scored. A mistake or an opposition player doing something brilliant is one thing, but Burns will know that his hubris cost Bath the game.

Even at his best, Freddie is always on the cusp of flaky. His silly showboating cost his team the game. His teammates and the fans will be rightfully livid. Re. place kicking - he's not that good anyway, so why doesn't Priestland get the job for Bath?

To be fair, it doesn't happen to people who aren't showboating. Fair play to Medard, but he wouldn't have even been close if Burns had done one fewer bit of cockery before putting the ball down. I think that's going to eat at him - losing the game because you got charged down or made a mistake or missed a kick is one thing, but losing a game because you decided to stop to celebrate is another.

I'd be delighted if he's put it all behind him by next weekend. His personal history suggests against it though.

I asked a niece, every cell of whom I love dearly, what she had to be depressed about after hearing she had been having counselling sessions. The reaction was basically a total condemnation of my 'dinosaur opinion'. I suggested watching the first Crocodile Dundee film for the scene where, when advised that someone was seeing a shrink, he said, "Hasn't she got any mates?" That's the difference then/now. Some bastard will charge £250 an hour for what my generation did over a pint for free.

Oh, I accept what you say and am not unsympathetic. I just think the language of the 'definite' does nobody any favours. "For Christ's sake buck your ideas up," is obviously wrong but every-day chat and help sessions with caring friends/relatives has as much chance of working as all the bullshit from the professionals in the field. Anybody who advocates the chemical route is nearly always doing harm long-term, in my experience.

I accept that opinion but, two years later, I see hell of a lot of her. She's rejected all the chemicals prescribed, given up the counselling and found common sense from those close to her more productive than anything else. I'm not the main advocate either. Husband and parents offered similar opinions independently of mine.

All sufferers are different. That's the major consideration, IMO. Sorry I raised this now. It's not the forum for it. It's just that there's loads of crap surrounding the whole business.
